Total (over/under)

A bet on the combined score of both teams.

The book posts a number (e.g., 224.5 for an NBA game). You bet whether the combined final score goes over or under. Like spreads, totals usually price near -110 on each side.

Example

Total 224.5 — final score 118-110 = 228, over wins. Final 108-112 = 220, under wins.

Point spread

A handicap added to the underdog (or subtracted from the favorite) to even out the market.

Moneyline

A straight bet on who wins, no point spread involved.

Push

A tie — the bet lands exactly on the number. Stake is returned, no win or loss.
